After building sites for the Pennsylvania
State Association of Township Supervisors, the County
Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania
State Association of Boroughs and the Pennsylvania Municipal
Authorities Association, we realized we were learning a LOT
about government web sites.
So we've started to develop services for government site
design. We began by developing the site for Manor
Township in Lancaster County. This site is completely
databased - all information for the site comes from Cold Fusion
applications. We also built templates so that the Township
can maintain the site directly on their own without the requirement
that they have an extensive knowledge of html.
We'd like to do more local government sites. They are a natural
organization to take advantage of our "community development"
approach on the Web. We now have East
Hempfield Township, Upper
Saucon Township, Boggs Township, and Salisbury Township (and another Salisbury Township) as clients as well.
In addition to offering customized site development and design
to local governments, we now have a "Starter Site Package"
that should cover the needs of many local governments in the
coming year.
Our "Starter Site Package" includes sections
for:
- History of the local government
- Information on Boards, Commissions, and other local government
Offices
- Monthly Meeting Schedules
- Local Government Meeting Minutes
- Parks and Recreation Services
- Public Works and Roads
- News and Events
- Links
All pieces of the site are updated online through password-protected
templates. This means that local governments can learn to
update their own site without needing to
know html.
We also do State Government sites. Our portfolio includes
the redesign for the Center
for Rural Pennsylvania, and the design for the Local
Government Commission of Pennsylvania. Hopefully, word
of mouth will bring us more state government site development
work.
